Summer update and New Sponsor Alert!

Dear friends of HMS Oardacious, thank you for your continued support.

Since our re-launch in March this year, it’s fair to say we’ve been busy!

We’ve set ourselves a few significant challenges; rowing oceans for years to come being one of them with our participation confirmed in the famous Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge in December 2022, 2023 and 2024.  With our ambitions scaled up, the first step has been to grow our team; over these past 6 months we’ve been busy recruiting individuals who want to give something back.

We’ve introduced 20 new Submariners to the wonderful sport of Ocean rowing: with 12 already completing their first grass roots rowing expedition in the West of Scotland coastal waters.  Our volunteers each spent their first few days rowing 2hours on 2hours off and getting that first taste of life onboard.  As fellow Royal Navy submariners, we were proud to see how quickly they settled into the routine, managing watch patterns, living in confined spaces, looking out for fellow crew mates all whilst dealing with sleep deprivation in a challenging environment.  All our rowers were tested but it was a pleasure to see they all came away smiling and hungry for more.

We recently had the honour of showcasing HMS Oardacious at the inaugural Perth Energy Festival, an outdoor festival that celebrates adventure, sports, wellbeing and STEM to families and youth organisations.  Our volunteers had their first face to face opportunity of 2021 and enjoyed every minute, inspiring a new generation of adventurers.

Being part of the HMS Oardacious team means much more than just rowing. Our team have all joined to be part of a much bigger narrative that aims to deliver positive change in Mental Health, Human Performance, Sustainability, Education and Charity. Its fair to say that being involved in a campaign of this scale also helps our people develop, learn and grow.

None of this would be possible without the fantastic organisations that support our unique community.  We are very excited to be working with organisations that share our values and are delighted to welcome our newest HMS Oardacious Bronze Sponsor, Adrian Flux .

Adrian Flux is one of the UK’s largest specialist insurance brokers, covering everything from classic and vintage cars, modified vehicles, sports cars, homes, caravans, vans, travel insurance and much more.  Thank you, and welcome to the team!
